Job Description:

Direct Hire – Therapist

MSWS/MFTS $32.40 up $35.00 (evaluated upon experience and/or full certification) Salaries may vary based on Fulltime or Contract Part-time positions.

Fulltime – Monday – Friday

A Therapist will contribute to the goals and objectives of Tessie Cleveland Community Services Corporation (TCCSC) and its mission by exercising independent judgment to counsel clients and their families through individual and group treatment methods. This position is responsible for the oversight and assignment of Case Managers, as well as, client’s Treatment Plan and care. Therapist participates in the quality improvement activities of the Division and Agency, provides professional consultation to the mental health team members and community agencies as well as participates in the client education process directed toward the attainment of goals.

Position Qualifications:

  • Licensed, Registered or Waived Clinical Social Worker or Licensed, Registered or Waived Marriage and Family Therapist by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work or marriage and family therapy from an accredited college or university is required.
  • One year of direct service experience with severely emotionally disturbed children in an inpatient and/or outpatient health care setting.
  • Knowledgeable in areas of crisis intervention, early childhood development and family dynamics.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Possession of a valid Class C or higher driver’s license and insurability by the agency insurance carrier(s). An acceptable alternate means of transportation necessary to the completion of one’s duties may be considered.

Scope of Position:

  • Provides individual, family and group psychotherapy to clients in the field or other locations convenient for the client and most effective for treatment.
  • Uses theory and interventions to guide treatment.
  • Performs evaluations and biopsychosocial assessments (to determine medical necessity)
  • Utilizes the Shared Core Practice model to deliver services that incorporate the guiding principles of engaging, teaming, assessment, planning and intervention, and tracking and adapting.
  • Assists clients, families and significant others in understanding mental health problems, their reactions to the problems, accepting the need for treatment, working toward the solution of the problem and stresses interfering with treatment or overall functioning, modifying unrealistic attitudes and strengthening clients and families efforts toward satisfactory adjustments.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary team conferences to discuss and evaluate the nature of the client’s problem, to evaluate the client’s progress, and to develop disposition plans.
  • Independently develop an individualized case plan for each assigned client, which shall include specific task and interventions for each assigned client that includes frequency, type and estimated duration to address identified goals. The case plan shall include interventions, linkages, and/or behavior modifications to be implemented by the assigned case manager.
  • Monitor client’s progress toward meeting the personal milestones/long-term objective(s) outlined on the Treatment Plan.
  • Monitors, supports and assists the client in developing or maintaining skills to access, utilize and achieve the client’s treatment plan including medical, dental, psychological and psychiatric services; guidance in money management, and the use of education, socialization, rehabilitation and other social services.
  • Will utilize discretion when interacting on behalf of the client with family, friends, legal guardian, conservator and significant others to initiate and maintain supportive networks.
  • Conducts outcome measures throughout the course of treatment as required by the program.
  • Completes and submits all documentation timely and accurately and according to TCCSC policies and procedures.
  • Responds to emergencies utilizing crisis intervention techniques to deescalate individual and/or family situation.
  • Participates in staffing for consultation of high-risk clients.
  • Participates, facilitates and teaches group supervisions.
  • Attends all mandatory meetings.
  • Assigns, directs and oversees the implementation of services and objectives of the Rehab Specialist and/or Case Manager assigned under their supervision; Reviews and approves Rehab Specialist and/or documentation.
  • Participates in quality assurance and continuous quality improvement.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to all agency policy and procedures.
  • Keeps informed of trends and new developments in the field.
  • Required to obtain full licensure within 12 months of completing required hours of direct service.
  • Other duties as assigned by a supervisor, manager and/or coordinator.
